Health & Safety
As important as education is, nothing matters more so than the safety, security, and health of our children. Rest assured that proper protection and preparedness are critical considerations in everything we do here at Peace of Mind Quality Day Care
Transportation
• We only use NYS licensed and bonded motor coach transportation companies and drivers when traveling off-site.
• All drivers undergo stringent testing and are trained in defensive driving skills
• When appropriate, we use infant and toddler seats that are safe and reliable.
Playgrounds
• All playground equipment is safe, sturdy, and maintained to assure they are secure and in good working order.
• We have safe zones with soft landing areas if your child takes a tumble.
• All playgrounds are contained within secure fencing and padlocked gates.
• All play is well supervised by attentive staff.
Wellness
• We assess every child’s health by talking with parents and monitoring for symptoms during the course of each day.
• We notify parents when a child does not feel well to help prevent an illness.
Sanitation
• We clean our centers daily and as needed with safe, non-toxic cleaning products.
• Cleaning supplies are locked safely out of reach of children.
• We clean and sanitize toys throughout the day to help prevent the spread of germs.
• We encourage children to wash their hands throughout the day by singing songs and teaching lessons about health and hygiene.
• Diapering is conducted in an area separate from children’s play areas.
Medications
• We have strict policies for administering medication to your child to ensure they are protected.
• We require a doctor’s note for any medication, prescription or over-the-counter, given to an infant and child above 1 year old to ensure safety.
• Medications are stored securely out of the reach of children.
Security / Authorization
• Our center is secured so that only authorized staff and families may enter.
• Only pre-approved people with photo identification may pick up your child.
• Safe, secure perimeters ensure that children can enjoy outdoor play safely.
• We use safety gates, window guards (except fire escapes), and cap electrical outlets.
• Our centers include smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, and fire extinguishers.
Qualifications
• We have dedicated caregivers who are trained in child development, early childhood education, or a related field.
• We conduct criminal background checks prior to hiring to ensure our staff is trustworthy.
• Our staff and teachers are trained in first aid and CPR.
Emergencies
• We are serious about training for earthquakes, fires, and lock-down situations.
• We have an emergency evacuation plan and regularly conduct drills.
• Just having a plan of action isn’t enough; we regularly test and train so our people are ready.
Food/Meals
• All perishable food is refrigerated.
• Our menu is planned by a registered dietitian so your child eats nutritious foods.
• We welcome breastfeeding mothers, and we have careful policies for separating breast milk from formula.
Our Approach
FUN is a powerful medium for learning important life skills. So we have creatively designed our programming to assure your child of having lots of fun while they develop socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually.
So how does this play out?
We strive to immerse your child in a stimulating atmosphere, full of care and encouragement and led by committed and loving teachers. Each day we provide our kids’ ample opportunities to grow and learn. We don’t simply wish to keep them entertained; rather we endeavor to ignite and fan the flames of their imaginations. In this engaging atmosphere, we seek to help your child gain the tools to become confident and self-aware.
As you might imagine, this goes beyond simple academics. As important as reading, writing, and math may be, here at Peace of Mind we believe that curriculum must also involve teaching essential and positive life skills. Every day offers new opportunities for self-discovery and learning such skills ~ and we never miss an opportunity to educate. For example:

Playing with toys and/or using our imaginations helps develop motor skills and teaches lessons about sharing.

Singing songs while washing hands creates interest in the arts while forging social bonds & teaching kids about the need for good hygiene.

Becoming aware of others and their needs/interests helps teach children to develop a cooperative attitude and to cope with conflict in a positive way.
Each activity is designed with a specific lesson or outcome in mind. And it’s all about doing our best to help each of our children grow up to be confident, happy, well-adjusted, and respected friends and neighbors in our community.
Qualifications
Peace of Mind Quality Child Care is extremely committed to being the very best in our industry ~ a commitment that compels us to meet rigorous early childhood development standards and guidelines for high-quality care.
We belong to the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), Child Care Resource Network, and the NYS Quality Stars program. We are determined to make sure our programs continually exceed stringent national care standards as well as go beyond NY State minimum licensing requirements and standards for child care.
In addition, we endeavor for our headteachers and managers to have either a degree in early childhood development comparable field or a CDA certification. A CDA (Child Development Associates Credential Program) is an intensive 120-hour course that equips and empowers our teachers with state-of-art skills, know-how, and the insights needed to make a real difference in your child's life.

Enrollment
It all starts with a quick phone call.
We'll check our availabilities for openings and then schedule a "let's get acquainted" tour of our facilities which also gives us a chance to meet you and introduce you to the staff and teachers that will be serving you.
To officially enroll, we have a simple application that will need to be filled out.
